8 things we didn't know when applying for med school

You know, back in those days, when we graduated from high school, and eagerly filled up the application to medical school, there were a few things, we didn't realise we CANNOT do, in medical school... i shall mention a few here:

1. NO unusual piercings


2. NO tongue piercings

let's break for some interesting fact: Here's someone who broke the Guiness Book of Records

Brent Moffatt from Winnipeg, Canada, pierces himself with surgical needles as he sets a Guinness record for most body piercings, in Montreal, December 13, 2003. Moffatt inserted 900 needles into his legs to break his previous record of 702 piercings - 12/26/03 (scary, isn't it)

3. and definately NOT this... super gross wehh... i dare not even look at the picture... :P

4. NO nail polish
hmm.. i secretly adored nail polish.. but i guess it's not a luxury i could afford... and nail polish is actually rather bad.. it hides the clues for diseases, which we find in the nails, like vasculitis, leuconychia, splinter hemorrhage, etc..

5. NO long finger nails.. finger nails have to be clean and short as we would be examining patients... and percussion would be darn painful if your third finger nails are short... if you noticed, all medical doctors and students have short finger nails, especially the third finger on the right hand...

6. NO hair dye (besides copper/brown/black)
i don't know who made this general rule... i once wanted to dye my hair blue, with a tinge of silver lining.. but well, in the end, didn't do it.. i can't imagine the expression on my supervisor's face if he sees me like that... so ya.. this is one of those things, we are not suppose to have..

7. NO unsual hairstyle - this is obviously, out of the question lar....
8. NO tattoos - and there goes my tattoo dream~

Madagascar : Escape 2 Africa

~~i wanna move-it, move-it~~ i wanna move-it, move-it~~

this is a movie where anything is possible... i mean a tame lion who dances but can't fight? penguins who build and pilot a plane? a hippo falling in love with a giraffe??

this is one of those feel-good-movie... say, it's a friday night, your boss just bombarded you, you had a stupid argument with your other half, you did freaking bad in your exam that morning, or let's just say, you had a really, really bad hair day... so, this movie is the exact feel-good-movie to cheer you up... like seriously...

i liked the moral values inserted in this movie,.... about friendship, family and love... the way you can educate the little kids, in a fun and interesting way... kids love animals, i could not explain it.. whether it's xin hau, the Shone's syndrome kid at the paediatric wards, my cousin nephew, Issac, or im sing's little cousin, Han Han... they all loved animals.....

okay, i won't want to give away too much of the storyline.... this story is certainly a MUST SEE! it's cute, funny and hilarous!

i was disappointed with Quantom of Solace, which i watched yesterday night.... but Madagascar made up for the disappointment!

Let's all just move-it, move-it~~ ^^

p/s: i dont really liked the granny though... because, i think children should be taught that granny is a loving and kind person,.. and not at all scary.. oh well.....

Quantum of Solace

only one word to describe this movie: disappointing

okay, maybe it's just me... coz i'm not much of a Bond fan.. but i wasn't having too much expectation from this movie either... i have to admit, this movie is one of those movie that made me felt i didn't get the money worth, and certainly, not the 1hour and 46minutes of my time.... surprisingly, i wonder how it hit the box office! and made it as one of the best selling tickets movie.... i felt that, well, this movie sucked big time!! =P

the storyline was lame, lacked creativity... the action wasn't that great either... i thought the car racing scene from Eagle Eye was much better....seriously,.. no new cool gaggets... and the car was just so-so... a little 'sakit hati' to see it being damaged.. and this movie, it didn't had the last thing which could save a movie- it lacked good looking actors / actresses.. sigh... i don't expect a drop dead gorgeous Bond,.. but i thought Pierce Brosnan was a much more better Bond.. well, although old, at least he had a more charming personality, and a sense of humour.... the new Bond seemed to me like an indestructible robot.. no emotion, boring... sigh...

after the first 10minutes, i was merely waiting for it to end.. and regretting of not watching Madagascar instead of this.. this 007 movie, was like some kind of Rambo movie they had 20 years back... oh gosh...

so ya, sorry to say this, clearly, this movie wasn't my cup of tea~

jogoya! jogoya! jogoya!!

After the previous post, which a number of people, especially of the highly testosterone equipped species would disagree with it, i decided to blog on something neutral... something that i promised to blog, such a long time ago, but procrastinated.. so here it was, the day after paediatric exam, we all headed to Jogoya! i'll just let the pictures do the talking~

since, i had never introduced my coursemates before,
so here they are....
all starving at the lift..

i started off with my plate of shashimi...
~lovely~
i liked the oysters the best!! very fresh indeed!
but i could not take much of it, as i forgotten my anti-histamines =(
but the osyters, they are really, REALLY good...
so, i just HAD to take a few more...
hehe~
the prawns were very fresh too~
ophs!
had to take a break from shellfish
drown myself in coconut juice....
fresh, refreshing, it is~

but when they discovered there was free flow of alcohol
there goes the binge drinking..

i personally like gimlet.. it tasted good...
oh yes, i learnt that one should never mix wine with other alcoholic beverages..
it causes stomach upset..
but of course, i learnt that the hard way

Desserts after that!!

guess what? jogoya had muachi!! (pulut rice desserts)
but i thought the ones in Taiwan tasted much better
