Love isn’t everything, Work isn’t everything, Then, WHAT IS EVERYTHING???

They say,

Love isn’t everything,

Work isn’t everything,

Then, WHAT IS EVERYTHING???

Say we wake up at 6 in the morning, get to work at 7, plus minus the traffic jam, starts work at 8am, be very lucky enough to leave at 5pm, reach home in more or less 6pm… that is like 7am-6pm, which makes about 11 hours which is 45% of our day (11 out of 24 hours), EXCLUDING on-calls, studies, etc…  furthermore, if we were to minus 8 hours of sleep,  our job makes up 68% of our life… (i know, it is a sad fact, isn't it)

So, whatever JOB we choose, seriously, we MUST LOVE (LOVE, not just like, yes, deep-down-inside-L-O-V-E) it, right???

Then, we get home, we spend the remaining 13 hours with our love ones, whether friends, family, or the other half… laughed about what happened at work... share each other's experience, give each other comfort, give each other a pat in the shoulder, encouragement, love, smiles, support, surely, we SHOULD have a home to get back to, shouldn’t we? shouldn't we enjoy the other part of life to the fullest??

So, if we were to have a life partner, we SHOULD LOVE (LOVE, not just like) him (or her), right???

Imagine, if you had to remove that first half… so like I had to go to work, doing something I don’t like, 11 hours a day, for lets say, the next 2 years… how would it feel like?? Living that daily routine, dreading to get up for work, being blue all mondays and throughout the week.... Horrible. ain't it??? Well, at least I get to come home to people I loved… maybe that will make up for the 45% of the day, maybe not enough...
On the other hand, imagine, if you keep the first, and remove the second half… so like, I do something I like very much, live my passion, follow my dreams… but at the end of the day, I come home to an empty rented home… cuddle myself to sleep, treat myself when ill, dapao food home or called for delivery, watch VCD on my laptop until i doze off, …  is that happiness?

So,
when forced to make a decision,
i was torn apart between two worlds...

So,
when forced to make a decision,
 I asked,

WHY CAN’T WE HAVE THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS??

WHAT IS EVERYTHING???

so, we live only once, heck it!

~away for exams~

Finally, I've received my exam slip yesterday, sort of CONFIRMING that all this is true.
and no, i won't be shouting into any pillow this time.
I can't believe that 5 years past in a blink of an eye..
okay, maybe several blinks..
Shu Juen was already talking about missing university life..
i think i'll be missing it too...

Anyway, meanwhile,
I'm just keeping my fingers crossed.....
Praying hard that everything will go through well...
and hoping that i will not screw up...

Mr Jeevanan, our ENT consultant, said that:
'Examiners don't fail students. Students fail themselves.'
I guess there is some truth in what he said.
When under exam stress, students (including me) do all sorts of funny things.
Even a very good or average student, when panic, make mistakes in exams,
and some mistakes, being very unforgivable..

The last mock exam i had,
well, it didn't went really well...
(and guess what? it was videotaped and all! and yes, my coursemates get to view it in dk1 and well, 'learn from my mistakes'.. )
Prof Shahrir was like: shinyin, what happened to you?

The next exam, the real one, would be even more stressful,
You get thought block when four examiners stare straight into you,
watching you examine the patient,
pressuring you to answer the questions,
as the time keeps ticking....

So much at stake...

But i suppose,
we have to learn how to manage anxiety, stress...
how can we manage patients if we ourselves get over anxious, no?
i really hope i can maintain composure, calmness..
breathing exercise....

Will be giving it all my best for the next three weeks...
Wish me good luck! =)
(i desperately need in this time)

All the best to all my coursemates,
hope we'll all pass this with smiles ^^

p/s: Will be fasting from the internet for a while~
Please do not abandon me.. :)

i carry your heart, i carry it in my heart....

It took me a while whether to change my header,
and i did, several times...

My Valentine's probably started like this....

with a Forensic Exam...
cramming all the facts in my head...
Hangging, Strangulation, Drowning, Burns, Lightning, Road Traffic Accidents, Gun-shoot wounds, sudden deaths,
Signs of death, post-mortem changes, types of wounds,
hypostasis, contact whitening, time of death,
rigor mortis, cadaveric spasm, color changes, Casper's Dictum,
Adipocere, Mummification, Maceration,
Cause, Manner, Mode,
Natural, Homicide, Suicide, Accidental...
child abuse, abortion, sexual crime, surgical procedure associated,
medico-legal aspects,
etc, etc, etc...

don't get me wrong,
Forensic is very interesting...
but i just hate exams,
that's all...
and i was sick,
so very sick...
AEBA secondary to URTI,
with a terrible flu,
a painful throat...
stress-induced?
yup, i was falling sick, with forennnsicccc...
and of all day,
today...

i can't decide which is worse,
not having a person to share valentine's,
or having a person, but not having to share it with him/her...
or sharing it with someone you don't really liked...
breaking up on Valentine's?
or losing your loved ones to God on Valentines..

i did wonder for a moment,
whether Valentine's was Satan's evil idea,
and therefore Singles Awareness Day
and Black Day
were created.....

Anyway, my day improved,
i went shopping later in the evening..
i think i overcame the anti-valentine's feelings..
haha!
but i also i think i overspent...
well, i didn't think so when i was spending though..
haha...

anyway, back to my header...
i thought this was nice...

but hey,
whether single or attached,
whether together or apart,
whether if he's across the ocean,
Valentine's is a time for Love...
please don't hate Valentines..

so here's a poem,
by E E Cummings:

(so i had this in my mind, and designed a new header...)

i carry your heart with me
(i carry it in my heart)
i am never without it
(anywhere i go you go, my dear;
and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling)
I fear no fate
(for you are my fate, my sweet)
i want no world
(for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;
which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

shinyin's busy eating pancakes...

Lingesh sent me an interesting link today. It was a story written by Topher, who is a Caribbean medical student at St. George’s University. I liked his medical school metaphor : pancakes every morning. Here's the article, enjoy reading: (don't forget to watch the video at the end- it's classic!!)

Medical school is like trying to eat five pancakes every morning for breakfast.

At the beginning of each course, we’re given a syllabus telling us how we’re going to be graded, the question break-down for each test, and the schedule of lectures each day for the next 4-5 months. Nothing is going to sneak up on you unless you can’t read the print on the page (in which case you’re blind and things sneak up on you all the time).
But it’s sunny outside or snowing outside or Tuesday. Whatever. You’re in medical school to become a doctor, not to be in a classroom (scheduling conflicts here) and you find yourself out on the weekends, maybe catching a movie on the weekday, and so on. You blow off the first week of any course because the material is supposed to be introductory and you certainly blow off the first week after any exam to recuperate. Maybe you take off two weeks if it was especially difficult and draining.
Eventually though, the next exam is closer than the last exam and you have to return to the desk and pretend to be a serious student. The first week back studying, you won’t be as efficient and as familiar with the material as you were leading up to the last test, so there’s some built-in catching up to do. You can’t understand the material taught TODAY because you blew off the introduction, so until you catch up, you keep falling behind. By the time you’re back in your stride the exam is so close you can feel it’s breath on your neck and you still have material to cover on a first pass. Let’s not forget: you haven’t reviewed or committed anything to memory at this point. It’s now that you understand the truth:
Medical school is like trying to eat five pancakes every morning for breakfast.
You know you can do it. A Premed advisory committee endorsed you saying, “He has the stomach for it. He’s committed.” And you prove them all right. Every day you show up with your first-year optimism and your annoying hunger for learning and you clean that plate (just kidding, it’s adorable). But you begin to notice that those pancakes are slowing you down a little each day and the sugar highs and lows are screwing with your sleep. Smart person that you are, you decide to pass on the flapjacks one day. You think to yourself, “Self, I’m going to eat ten pancakes tomorrow so that I don’t have to eat any today.”
But it never stops. Turns out that “self” isn’t the most responsible lender, and before you know it there are 40 pancakes in front of you and your plate needs to be clean by tomorrow. So yeah, at this point it looks impossible. But really, it’s your fault.
In the future, as I like to imagine it, I’ll be in charge of all medical school admissions. The process will be six weeks long and will consist of nothing more than showing up each morning to eat five pancakes, at which point you can then go about whatever you were going to do that day. At the end of the five weeks a few jaded, newly diabetic hopefuls will come to my office and, mixed with both pride and resignation say, “I did it. I finished those goddamn pancakes.”
“Wow,” I’ll say. “That’s very impressive. You must be very proud, and your parents must be very proud. Just one more thing.” They’ll reflexively clutch their stomachs, shifting their girth from one hip onto the next and groan, “What’s that?”
“Regurgitate it.”

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As much as i liked to laugh at this metaphor, i could not. I find my very self in those shoes. My stacks of pancakes is nearly as high as the ceiling, standing tall and proud, like the Petronas Twin Tower, overlooking me, challenging me to gobble them down.
arGHHhhh!!
You see the pancakes. You dream of pancakes. You hallucinate of pancakes!
I am developing an evil plan to drug the examiners, and maybe smuggle the stack of pancakes into the exam hall and throw them all in the bin!! Who's with me?? - in my dreams!

The truth is, noone can help you eat those pancakes.
You have to settle your stack of pancakes.
Sometimes, i felt the walls closing in, almost suffocating, as the days count down, time cruelly past us, the pancakes stack higher.
We cannot afford to give up, can we? Just merely inches away... How we managed to get this far is a mystery. How can we go on, another mystery. Yes, we are just inches away, inches away to graduating, to finally achieve our dreams, make your parents proud, save lives, blah, blah, blah..
little do we realized, this is just the beginning...

Okay, I have to get back to my pancakes~

crushes crushes people

Referring to the previous post on Crushes, a friend of mine said that, to get people to talk about things, I should get the ball rolling first… oh well…

I find telling stories from the past can be quite embarrassing, but you know, when things happened some very long, long time ago, thinking back, you could only laugh yourself silly.

So, today, I shall share my story.

YES, Tai Im Sing, I am writing about my crush, and you owe me dinner, haha!

------------------------------------------------------------------

I think I had my first crush when I was in standard three. Actually, I cannot be sure. I mean, what does a 9 year-old knows about crushes and all? A 9-year-old can get so confused with emotions and all…

Anyway, back then, when I was a 9-year-old kid, I was very much different from now, I guess. I was not tall, and not the least pretty or smart. I wore huge thick rimmed spectacles since year one. (Thanks to my dad who somehow believed that the bigger the frames, the more you can see, sigh..)
I had huge incisor teeth, the kind that overlapped each other, creating an inverted ‘V’ shape or a dentition on my front upper row teeth, somehow slightly disfiguring. Mummy used to call them ‘cute rabbit teeth’, while I, well, I had my reasons not to smile.

I had straight hair, short, with some fringe, common haircut, not enough to fish a compliment. I was not even friendly or talkative. Shy may not be the sufficient vocabulary either. Teachers never remember me.

When relatives visits us, it was often ‘ Nei geh tai lui hou guai, Ling Ling hou leng, chii jap pun mui’. (In cantonese, your eldest daughter very obedient, second daughter very pretty, like a Japanese doll) Ling Ling is my sister, and she was always the pretty one. And I was supposing, the obedient one. Did I say that with a tinge of jealousy?? Haha! I need to clarify that I love my sister very much, and we have a very close bond. We still do immature things together, most which are too embarrassing to blog about.

Anyway, back to the story.

So, that was the 9-year-old me.

Let’s just say, I was the little girl in class that no one notices.

However, there was this boy who noticed. He sat next to me at class. I do not know why I still remember him. Perhaps, it was because he was very nice.

His name was Kevin. Kevin Wong.

-----

I remember the paper frogs he taught me to fold. And I still remembered how to fold them.
We would have competitions on whose frogs could jump the highest, the furthest. He made the frogs do impressive somersaults, while we laughed at those who could not land at their feet.
Here's how the paper frog looked like.
I folded another one, as it looked very alone.

Anyway, those days, he would race me at homework, I remember Maths in particular. Somehow, he always wins and he would rush me into finishing mine, sometimes even letting me copy answers. I could not remember whether I did so. I often looked forward to finishing my homework fast; just to catch up with him, so that we would have time for play.

When I was unhappy or bored, he would cheer me up, telling me stories. I think he must have been very good with origami; he would fold objects with his magic hands, build buildings from stationeries, making his stories very much exciting. I remembered, once, during the middle of exams, he made this HUGE froggie from a white artblock! Funny, I remember none of those stories now.

I remembered he played the Electone (an electric piano with 2 layers of keys plus 1 layer of foot pedals). We shared the same fate as we were forced by our parents to practiced 1 to 2 hours per day. He was very smart for a 9 year old, I guess, as he would play a few songs, record them in the electone, and replay the songs repeatedly over the next whole hour. His Philippino maid, busy cooking in the kitchen, never discovered it. I secretly envied him for that, and wished my piano was electrical too! I remembered we would sit for hours at our desk, together playing the imaginary piano during breaks, making up some imaginary song. I never really heard him play before though.

After school, we would play at the school field, near the back school gate, while waiting to go home. We would catch ladybirds and let them go. I remembered the red round creatures with pretty black spots. We would play catch and raced each other to the end of the field.

About half a year later, or so, my parents decided to shift to Seremban. So, I had to change schools.

And I, I never see him again.

So, that was the story of my first crush, that is, if you consider that as one.

There was no palpitations, ears-turning-red, or i-can’t-live-without-you kind of feeling though. Perhaps, it was more of losing a childhood friend rather than a crush. I think I did missed him every once in a while, back then. I must have had. Maybe, that was why, part of me resented to start all over in a new primary school.

Silly me, right?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, I cannot decide whether I like crushes or not.

I think sometimes, maybe sometimes, crushes crushes people.

At first, it feels good, nice.
Then, comes the palpitations and the I-want-to-see-you feeling and all.
Sometimes, you get fantasy and all, to some extent, even obsessions. And you had to inhibit your own mind like : Gosh, can I just stop thinking about him! Stop appearing in my dreams, please! -And it just drives you crazy. The last time I saw my last crush, I had an asthmatic attack. Not so good (or safe), huh?

So, over the years, there was the head prefect, the school house captain, the senior, the group moderator, the other group moderator, and a few others…

but I guess the longest crush I had,
the longest crush I had,
it had to be him.

Let me see, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5….. 12 years!

OH MY GOD! I had a crush on you for 12 years!!

Well, I actually had a picture of him.

Happy Birthday Boon Lee~

I'll like to dedicate this post to my first zhi mui to turn 25 this year!!

to the capable, dedicated engineer,
who brightens Siterra,
the sweetest, cutest, adorable-est zhimui,
who always managed to get away with her innocent smile,
who believed in 'OLD is GOLD'...
who can admire a guy for over 10 long years,
our great prefect who help us 'accidently' won [kelas terbersih]
took picture with the honorable trophy
and had the title tarik balik 3 days later,
our dedicated Class Monitor,
who brought us together...
helping 6 Iskandar win prizes over prizes,
from English Fest, to telematch, and quizes,
together, we had laughed, cried and cheered,
Laughed so much, Pn Tan Kim Kee commented in puzzlement:
'you girls like to laugh a lot, huh?'
together, we made miserable Kelab rekacipta students do origami (wahaha!),
create havoc in Kelab Photography,
Ignored PBSM and Girls Guides,
Published The Georgian Magazine,
played with worms, innocently murder them with our terrible Science knowledge, (did we?),
the haunted apartment at Genting heights,
we saw the eerie lift, threw the keys, and locked ourselves in the apartment,
the BBQ at Port Dickson, building sandcastles,
even boardgames can be fun!
the endless CNY visiting, from Puan Chu to Mr Foo,
and the imaginary Mr Kuan visit?
and how ZE stuck her tongue out - still classic~,
celebrating the good days and more~~
cheers~

~Happy birthday BoonLee~

although you are so far away @ Kulim
you are always close at heart....

i realised that i don't have much recent pictures of you.... only those old-old pics... guess the boonLee's take-pix spree died off back in highschool... Here are some random pix i found from the albums, friendster, facebook... and i looked super fugly wehh... but for your sake to reminiscence the past, i guess, will sacrifice for you.. and because it's your birthday, you deserve a good laugh lar.... for those good old days~~ cheers~~~

@ King George V High School
endless CNY gatherings @ ong's house
CNY @ your grandma's place
makan @ laksa house
and i found this super funny pix, which you modified with imaginary snows..
so, i guess our unsuccessful pretending-to-be-cool trend started back in high school?
and some more unsuccessful pretending to be sad pix
boonLee, why you smiling lar? =P

Is 2009 a happy new year after all?

While there were numerous new year raids, sex & drug rave parties, carried away revellers , murder cases, more murder cases, MVA(motor vehicle accidents) , job losses, immigrant problems, and even the terrible club fire in Bangkok killing 59 injuring 200 others,.. i was wondering why is everyone still so happy this new year... what a way to start the new year....

well, i spent my new year's eve this year, overdosing on mefenamic acid (ponstan) and piriton, sleeping through the noisy countdown, with a terrible toothache and a horrible headache... and i rejected alcohol despite my friend's theory of how it can relieve pain as it shares the same end receptors as the nociceptors, despite how convincing they advocate it... or perhaps, i was just too sleepy....

While everyone like to recap over how they had spent their 2008, i have nothing much to recap, and would rather put everything in a box, seal it and push it to somewhere at the back of my mind, where i may not have to visit it again...

and guess what? i'm turning over a new leaf this year!

For the past few days, my work-vs-fun scale had been tipping a little too much to the fun side.. sleeping late almost everynight, not for work, but for fun. Yes, shinyin has this uncontrollable impulse for fun. But with professional exams around the corner, i guess, it's about time to be more serious, and well, hardworking... welcome to the boring side of shinyin...

So, here's my list of New Year's 2009 Resolutions:

1. Pass Professional Examinations with flying colors and Graduate as a Doctor
2. Be a good Doctor, be nice to patients
3. Go home often, spend more time with family
4. Keep in touch with friends
5. Live a healthy lifestyle - Healthy diet, regular exercise, weight reduction, etc
6. Be more organized
7. Adopt punctuality!
8. Do NOT procrastinate
9. Gain confidence
10. Start saving
11. Learn to have patience
12. Learn to be optimistic
13. Learn to love
14. Learn not to judge people (esp based on their appearance)
15. Learn to be independent
16. Good compliance to meds
17. Be less lazy
18. Be more passionate, enthusiastic and determined in medicine
18. Travel the world after professional exams
19. Be happy ! =)
20. (to add if any)

As part of preparing for professional exams, i have several resolutions as well, which i shall try my very best to practice until professional exams:
1. Control internet addiction
2. Abstinence from coffee
3. Abstinence from alcohol
4. Daily study & revision
5. Complete case study reports early
6. Do NOT procrastinate
7. Practice long & short cases
8. Do NOT marathon movies overnight
9. Do NOT get addicted to computer games or the likes (restrain fr mousehunt! and fb applications)
10. Start study group

back to the part where i could not understand why everyone is so happy about the new year.... like shinLoo said, i'm old and unsuccessful (and not any wiser, are we?) ... and guess what? it's about time we start using anti-aging products.. so, we'll be looking this age for the rest of our lives, huh??

anyway, on the lighter tone, chicken lovers and housewives can rejoice over cut down on chicken price, and there's Chinese New Year to look forward to! which equates lots of nice New Year biscuits, and better still, LOTs of angpows!! yippie~~ and we get new angpows from the Goh's couple, hehe.. (remember Sharvyn and the woodest woodhead i blogged about back in teluk intan?? they are such a cute couple~) Oh yes, remember to buckle your seat belts... 242 summonses so far and still counting....

lastly, i hope 2009 will be filled with many pleasant surprises to come~~

~Happy New Year!~

Most miserable 2 and a half hours of my life!

I have a terrible toothache. I can feel as if my face is asymmetrically swollen. The pain, intense, that I cannot clench my teeth, or close my mouth. Eating has became a torturous luxury. The regular drugs and cold therapy did not offer much relieve.
This toothache did not come suddenly. I would have to flash back 2 months back.
So, on the first week of Medical posting, I had some free time. So, honey and I decided to see the dentist. I wanted to do some scaling. I liked the feeling of my teeth feeling all sparkling white after scaling, you know, with that -‘shing’ *blink* *blink* feel..
Upon arriving at the dentist, a quick examination was done and I was told that I had some tiny holes in my teeth. So, the doctor, she asked whether I would want them filled. Well, the holes were not causing any pain (at all!), but the doctor was very convinced that in a matter of time, it would. Besides, being human, when you were told that there was a problem somewhere and that problem can be fixed, naturally, you say, ‘okay’. So, that was what I did.
The doctor gave me a number and sent me upstairs. I was approached by a cute, sweet girl. She introduced herself as a third year dentistry student. Let’s call her DS (Dental Student). She wanted to take some history, so, I agreed to her. I know how it is like, being a student, I mean, after all, I AM a student. So, we should never reject one of us, right? What I did not know was a dentist had to take such a long history, and a couple of other things. The history included past medical history, past surgical history, allergy history, family history, social history, etc… almost similar to the history that we, medical students take.. only that it was more superficial, and they had an additional: past dental history.
Later on, DS sat me on the couch. The next thing I saw was she, reaching out for the handpiece. Then I was like, *blink* *blink* - OMG! are YOU going to do my fillings for me??? YOU of all people??? NO WAY!! - My heart was screaming aloud: But I thought you were just a 3rd year.. where are your seniors? where is your supervisor?? Have you practiced on enough fake teeth or models? Shouldn’t your supervisor be supervising you??? What if you introduced a focus of infection or injured some nerves?? I don’t know… millions of thoughts ran through my head, millions, clouding, debating through my mind, so many that I cannot tell them apart, which was true, which wasn’t. But one dominant thought stood out: ‘TRUST THAT GIRL!’ –which 2 months later, I totally regretted…
Actually, it did not take me 2 months to regret. 2 hours later, I was already regretting,.

DS tied some metal ring around my teeth. Then put a frame around it. She tied a pink sheet of plastic cloth across it, sort of making a tent. I suppose, that was to reduce the risk of infection, by creating a barrier between the saliva, which is rich in organism, and the operating site.
I CURSED THE PERSON WHO INVENTED THIS DARN TECHNIQUE!!! (I mean, we can’t always put the blame on the small girl, can we?) WHO INVENTED THIS TECHNIQUE?? Have you ever, EVER considered the misery of having your mouth opened for 2 and a half long hours, and having your mouth numbed? The saliva all accumulated, stucked at the back of the throat, no suction done… and for asthmatic patient like me, nothing scares me more than the feeling of not being able to breathe, the feeling of overflowing saliva clogging the airway.. how miserable it was….
You can give me statistics of studies, researches on how great it had reduced the risk of infection, blah, blah, blah,… but still, from a consumer’s point of view, this is a stupid, miserable technique!
So yes, I CURSED THE PERSON WHO INVENTED THIS TECHNIQUE!
Guess what? This process was not the worse thing, not yet.. Each time she accidentally touch my gum with that horrifying handpiece, I would wince and let a cry of pain. Okay, maybe I did had a very low threshold for pain, but was I SUPPOSE to feel pain??? Didn’t she just inject some local to numb the pain?? Why the hell was it still painful????
And guess what? Despite the pain, shinyin actually persevered… with this mental thing going on: 5 more minutes, don’t panic… it’ll be over soon.. this is a dream~ you are on a beach~~ breathe in, breathe out~ I tried the relaxation techniques and every possible CBT I read from my psychiatry textbooks.. I would even hypnotize myself if I knew how… ‘sabar’~~
And later on, I heard the scariest vocabulary ever existed in the English Dictionary: ‘OPHS!!’
And DS started stuffing my mouth with gauze and cotton.
I think at this point, I was allowed to panic, because,... she did.
I wanted to ask her whether is everything okay, but you see, my mouth was fixed in such position I could not talk, and I was literally choking on my own saliva, and something which tasted somewhat like blood.
DS disappeared from the cubical and came back with her supervisor.
This was when I started cursing the girl too.
The supervisor took a look at my teeth, shook his head and started lecturing. You should NOT have used that, that, that... You SHOULD have done this, this, this...This ring was of the wrong size and type. You SHOULD have used this, this, this instead. You should NOT have done this tooth first, instead you should have done this, this, this…. And later, he was even quizzing her on what were the consequences of her action.. and there she goes rattling a list of scary possible outcomes, which (touch wood!) I hope would never come true!!
OH MY GOD!! Would you stop scolding your student and come save me???
So, after that session, which seemed like eternity, he taught DS what should she do – ‘remove everything, and close it with a temporary filling’.
–huh? WTF??
So, I was miserably left alone with DS again, to clean up her very own mess… guess what? I get to go home with some pain killers –hooray! She gave me an appointment the week after.

And do you think I would ever be SANE enough to go back?? I mean, if you had just escaped from Hell, and given a follow up one week later, would you go???
So, 2 months later, I suffered from the consequences of defaulting follow up.
Awww…. How my tooth hurts badly…
p/s: Bernard, you junior can be my worst nightmare!

housemanship application

picture from Canada in 2020

sorry for not updating for quite a while... had been away and busy last week... try accessing the internet with dial-up connection, while waiting for the pages to load, you'll probably pull all your hair out...

Tomorrow morning, i will be attending a seminar in HUKM Auditorium.... will be filling in the housemanship application forms... options should be easy for someone without commitments... somehow, too many options, and being a libran, this can be very difficult....

where will i spend my next 5 years???

2 years of housemanship plus 3 years of MO-ship

quite a huge question...

three empty blanks..

i wished i could fill them all with the same answer, so, you know, whatever happens, at least, i could still be near to home, family and friends... at least...

Happy birthday honey~

Lord of the Rings (LOTR) Symphony at the Malaysia Philharmonic Orchestra, KLCC was magically mesmerizing, captivating me in between the dancing notes, experiencing the thrill, excitement and advanture - BRAVO!

I could hear my heart beating,
racing against the rolling drums,
the strings followed in unison,
the notes magically dancing around me,
the woodwinds breezed by,
bringing along the melancholic emotions
the brass comes in, thrilled and excited
the voices hypnotizes you...

i love the orchestra! it excites me. it calms me. it completes me.
when aland asked me to tickle him if he fall asleep, part of me secretly felt that it was an insult to the orchestra. i mean, how can anyone sleep in such an exciting musical journey wor?? siGh... then again, i guess, different people have different interest.

the 2 things, i think, i cannot resists are
1. musical drama
2. orchestra chamber music
okay, maybe now i sounded like a absolutely weird boring person

i think i owed it to my piano teacher, Ms Ng Sheau Mian, who used to bring me to MPO when i was young, and planted this weird interest in me. She would tell me stories, as each music has it's story. I enjoyed listening to every instrument, i anticipate the time each of them flash their colors. The sound they produced, so delicate, so hypnotizing. The flute dancing, the piccolo, perhaps one of my favourite woodwind, soaring high above the sky. I liked the way the double bass played on the bridge today, the sound so special... and the other strings sways side to side.. i think the harp is a very beautiful instument, angelic... If there was music in heaven, i would think it is played by the harp...

it was quite some time since i heard a piano concerta. How disappointing to have Lang Lang's performance cancelled. How i would loved to watch him play again. To see the fingers skating on keys... sukteng, shinloo, aud, ze, betty, do you still remember the him??

for the first time, the concert ended with a lucky draw. no, the lucky person isn't me.
-------------------
5minutes later, i was experiencing a totally different genre of music. i was across the street, at Quattro Avenue K!!
Don't get me wrong. I'm not a club-addict or anything like that. (No, Dr Azmi, or any dr who might be reading this, trust me, i am not). This was perhaps, only my 3rd time in a club in KL.

And today, we were celebrating Cheryl's birthday at Quattro. I was already late, when we rushed from MPO, KLCC to Quattro. By that time, they almost finished the bottle of Black Label. I hate Malaysia because the alcohol is expensive. Seeing that i still can sit down here calmly and type this, i suppose you can see how little alcohol we had. WHY SO EXPENSIVE LA??? We visited the Autumn Club, and since it was fridays, it played pop songs. I thought the music selection was just okay. The deco was so simple, i was expecting some more effort. and they didn't had a dance floor!! or any pole!! nothing! wanna see lenglui on poles also can't. sigh. you just find yourself bumping into tables. tables. more tables.

I should congrat ki tiong, scent, mayluu, qkk, and typ, for their first time in KL club! hurray! Aland, Bobo,Cherry and baby gal occasional clubbers, while ah Bong, pro de... hehe.. it's a miricle ki tiong was actually there.. like bacholarette's night out before kahwin pulak, haha.. don't worry James, she was well taken care of.

and guess what? we got the deejay to announce : 'Happy Birthday Sweet Cherry, Queen of the house!!' ^^

Scent, i know you still upset because you wanted to chat longer with the yellow color shirt guy. Haha! Cheer up la. Guys you meet in club not suit you de... hehe...

No pictures today. Don't have them with me yet. All in friend's camera.

i'm waiting for my hair to dry. i can smell traces of cigarettes in it. oh, how i hate cigarettes. my shampoo failed. and my perfume is not helping. they should ban cigarettes in all pubs, bars and clubs, like the UK!! sigh. I should get some sleep. Tomorrow heading down to Teluk Intan. another 1 week posting.

Goodnight. Good morning.

Happy birthday honey~ big girl liao.. may you stay pretty always.... *muaks*

of love

Today, i heard a story which was not a story of falling...
of living in the dark end of winter turmoil..
instead, it was a love story..
of a couple who did not live happily ever after...
but they live, loving each other..
